Six Steps to Dealing with Emotions

Today I would like to give you an idea of how I am handling emotional situations instead of running to the refrigerator to suppress.

Maybe I have had emotional day, whereby,  1.  The water heater broke.  2. Someone disagreed with me.  3.  I was afraid to talk to a group of people.  etc etc.  At the end of the day I felt  anxiety and did not know how to process it without suppressing with food.

Here are six steps I now use to deal with this anxiety.

1.  Be aware of the Sensation

2.  Locate the Sensation in my Body (usually in my chest)

3.  Feel the Emotion

4.  Get up and do something physical

5.  Then tell somebody about it.

6.  Reward Yourself.  (not with food)

This little process is saving me from many binges!!!!!
